Flock yeah!

Cape Cod potato chips has a new commercial with an assist from A Flock of Seagulls. The band… and the seagulls. Here’s the commercial you’ve been waiting for since 1982.

Love it. This commercial could have turned out stupid, but instead it’s flockin’ hilarious. I think it succeeds because it restrains itself to one really excellent joke. The pun is a good one and the animated birds are perfect. Why mess with that? In fact, it’s funnier because everything else in the spot is so plain. The voiceover, the mellow fellow loungin’ at the beach, and potato chips in general are as normal as it gets. Leaving plenty of room to laugh at the joke.

This is Cape Cod’s first TV commercial, according to a press release from the company.
